Впрочем, когда кому-нибудь из таких учёных удаётся действительно что-то понять в устройстве живой природы, там, обычно всё очень "по креационистски". Реверс-инжиниринг с постоянным вопрошанием "а эта деталь для чего нужна".
Меня в свое время зацепило, как легко Ф. Крик (как он изложил в письме сыну) понял, что гены подобны текстам и коду, из одного лишь конечного набора 4х нуклеотидов и правил комплементарности в двойной цепи. Всё, вроде бы, очевидно, но нужно стопроцентное доверие ощущению целесообразности, чтобы утвержать это без сомнений.
